Lola Clavel is a Sydney-based fashion and costume designer from Paris. She designs and creates costumes for live showsmusicalscinemaTV show, opera and ballet. Trained in costume making and tailoring in Paris, she has worked extensively in cinema, opera, ballet and theater as a costume designer and maker. Since 2019, She has set up her workshop in Sydney to offer custom-made clothing service for special occasions.

In her creative universe, Lola draws design inspirations from historical, theatrical and cinematic costumes as well as haute couture. She is fond of blending traditional cuts and modern characteristics into a newborn design. In Matador Collection, this vision is represented in the five themes: Abanico, Adorno, Aragonesa, Fregolina, and Mariposa. The designs are inspired by the costumes and characters in the dark comedy, Matador, directed by Almodóvar. Lola envisions to revisit the bullfighting universe with a modern twist.

  • Abanico is a strapless silk organza ruffle dress in neon yellow.
  • Adorno is a set of transparent white shirt with long sleeves, and metallic striped high waisted pants.
  • Aragonesa is a cape-styled skirt with a crinoline structure, using yellow silk, and fuchsia polyester fabric.
  • Fregolina is a set of short waisted black sequin jacket, and high waisted jodhpur pants.
  • Mariposa is a pleated rayon red dress with a golden neck piece.
